About the Project
The goal of this research project is to show the impact of Nestle on the food cultures of Central and West Africa and the cultural amnesia brought on by the introduction of their products into the local market. By creating a counter-archive, we examine how Nestle's brand Maggi disrupts the production and consumption of local spices, as well as what impacts production of various products have vis-à-vis ecology, food anthropology and the local economy. This archive counters the invisibilisation of local spices enacted through colonial archives and Nestlé's marketing strategies.
